議員の休日は…？プライベートな時間は…？
髙島です。師走の初日は、咳が抜けきらず本調子ではないまま、午後から労働団体の地域組織の総会に出席してきました。我が会派からは、倉田団長が同僚小島議員の地元で報告会に招かれた飯田から戻ったばかりで、また竹内幹事長も別の会合からそれぞれ、懇親会の席に顔をそろえました。風邪引きが長居は無用と、私は半ばでお暇させていただき、失礼しました。
さて、この会合に同席された長野市長が、同じテーブルで「土日のたびに会合です」と話しておられました。公人となると私的な時間はよほど意識しないとつかめないものですが、程度の差はあれ共通の問題意識を持つひとりとして興味深く聞きました。私も地元の行事などはなるべく出るようにしていますが、このところ週日が詰まってくると週末はうちにいる時間を長くするように心がけています。心身のリフレッシュも勿論ですし、「特別な人の感覚」を薄めるためにも私的な時間は必要だと思います。何をするとかどこかへ出かけるということではなく、家族と過ごす時間（面倒なこともありますが）が少し確保できると自分を取り戻せたなあ、という気持ちになれることもあります。ほかの議員の皆さんはそれをどう工夫しているのでしょうか？
さてこの日曜日は午後、友人を4人拙宅にお招きして、簡素ではありますがパーティーを開きました。夫が主に手料理を振舞い、私は補助的に動いておりました。うちに人を呼ぶなんて、何年ぶりかな？と記憶をたどれば、もう10年近くなかったかも。
下が４歳９ヶ月になり、（子ども4人のつまみ食いは痛かったが）一応大人の言うことは聞き分けるし、ようやく独身・子どものいなかった頃のように来てもらえるような環境になりつつあるかな、といったところです。また、かつては台所に立つことさえなかった伴侶は、自分でメニューを決め、食材を選んで買い込み、予定の時間に間に合うように計画的に調理しておりました。大いなる変身です。
これまで、子どもが幼いということだけでなく、2人とも仕事で忙しがっていて、休日はと言えば子どもの野球はじめ、大人にとっては私的な時間など無いに等しい暮らしの中で、やっと心の余裕を持ってお客さんを迎えられるようになったひととき、ささやかにテーブルを囲みました。
